If you have followed our posts, you now have a <strong>privacy program<\/strong> in place for your entity. But, could it be improved? Below you can find some <strong>metrics<\/strong> that can help you in the evaluation of your effort. Here some possible data to collect:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>first, percentage of employees involved in the annual exercise<\/li>\n<li>second, the score of the tests\/questions your employees answered to<\/li>\n<li>then, some out-of-the-box exercise results and their trends (i.e., phishing tests)<\/li>\n<li>lastly, suggestions received from the employees. Maybe they can help you in building a more effective training program next year<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Privacy programs and Customers Experience<\/h2>\n<p>In a similar manner, it is important to understand how your customers perceived your efforts. Did they perceive the value of your privacy program? You may ask them questions like:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Have you ever read our <strong>Privacy Notice<\/strong>?<\/li>\n<li>Was it easy to find?<\/li>\n<li>In your opinion, was it\n<ul>\n<li>too long?<\/li>\n<li>too short?<\/li>\n<li>long enough?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Do you consider our <strong>Privacy Notice<\/strong> written in plain text?\n<ul>\n<li>If not, please, suggest us any improvements<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Metrics and Rights of Data Subjects<\/h2>\n<p>Critically important is the management of the rights of the data subjects. As a result, the following questions could be interesting for measuring your programs:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In the first place, how many Data Subjects Rights (<strong>DSR<\/strong>) requests have you received?<\/li>\n<li>Secondly, were they answered in a timely manner?<\/li>\n<li>Moreover, who was in charge of the <strong>DSR<\/strong> program?<\/li>\n<li>Also, did the DSRs slow down your operations?<\/li>\n<li>Eventually, could this program be improved?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Privacy Accountability<\/h2>\n<p>Now, you should measure the efficiency of your <strong>privacy policies and internal procedures<\/strong> as well. Therefore, questions like the followings could be useful:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>How many internal policies and procedures do you have?<\/li>\n<li>When were they reviewed\/updated?<\/li>\n<li>Have they ever answered all the practical issues in the privacy domain?<\/li>\n<li>What was the feedback from the privacy officers on the field?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Conclusions<\/h2>\n<p>So far, we have only mentioned few parameters useful to measure the efficacy and effectiveness of your <strong>privacy program<\/strong>. Nevertheless, we can adapt the metrics to the specific needs of your entity.
